2 C SUGAR
1 C BUTTER
4 EGG YOLKS
1 1/2 C MILK
3 1/4 C FLOUR
1 TSP SALT
2 TSP BAKING POWDER
1 C FINELY CHOPPED NUTS
4 EGG WHITES, STIFFLY BEATEN
PEELS OF 2 LEMONS, FINELY CHOPPED

JUICE OF 2 LEMONS
1/2 C SUGAR

BEAT BUTTER AND SUGAR TOGETHER UNTIL CREAMY. BEAT IN EGG YOLKS.

SIFT DRY INGREDIENTS (FLOUR, SALT, BAKING POWDER) TOGETHER.

ALTERNATE BEATING IN MILK AND DRY INGREDIENTS.

STIR IN NUTS AND LEMON PEEL.

FOLD IN EGG WHITES.

POUR INTO TWO GREASED AND FLOURED LOAF PANS.

BAKE AT 350° FOR 55-60 MINUTES.

IMMEDIATELY POUR MIX OF LEMON JUICE AND SUGAR OVER LOAVES.

COOL IN PANS FOR AN HOUR. REMOVE AND COOL COMPLETELY ON RACKS.
